Review on MegRhythm Steam Eye Mask

I chose the unscented MegRhythm Steam Eye Mask to try, since it is the most neutral eye mask, with no scent. I had been feeling really tired recently and my eyes look everything tired.

Upon opening the eye mask packaging, the eye mask inside is lavender dotted colored. Looks a little too feminine though. The mask is soft to touch, and the center area of each eye gets warmer and warmer to 40℃ as time goes by (I was busy with photos).

The interior of the mask where the eyes will enjoy the comfort of the steaming eye mask. All I have to do is hook the mask over my ears, lie down, and enjoy.

The mask gradually increases temperature to a comfortable and soothing temperature. The comfortable and soothing temperature kinda makes me sleepy and relaxes my eyes and even my mind. Time flew past when I am doing nothing but just relaxing and resting my eyes.

After 10 minutes, the eyes area is moist with the steam from the eye mask (as illustrated in the video).

Recharge and brighten your eyes now with MegRhythm Steam Eye Mask!

Our new matching colors Crocs shoes

The hubby and I decided to get ourselves a comfortable pair of shoes each. We went to Crocs. A brand with mid price range, with reviewed quality and comfort brand.

I had alot of choices and could not really decide on which pair. The hubby has an easier choice as there was not much choices and most of the styles were not what he wanted. In the end we got matching colors shoes. Thought mine is much more plain than his. I love his shoes more than mine. Haha..

With the ongoing GSS sale of 20% off minimum 2 pairs purchased, we saved quite alot. It's $131.80 for these two pairs.

His: Beach Line Boat Slip Navy/Red | UP $99.90 | Sale $79.90
Her: Crocs Retro Slingback Navy/Red | UP $64.90 | Sale $51.92

** Actually my design and color choice cost much less if buying online, but it is much cheaper for these two if buying in retail as his pair is not discounted online.

Togi Korean Restaurant

A week ago, the hubby and I were researching online individually for a place for today's lunch. And we shared this place with one another, without looking at one's screen. Cool eh? So we have to try out this place!

We forgot to place a reservation earlier on, and we tried to make one when they opened at 12 noon. We were told that they do not take reservations. A little worried that the place may be crowded with lunch crowd, but still we headed there excitedly.

Located in Chinatown, in the middle of Mosque Street, this cozy Togi Korean Restaurant serves authentic Korean cuisine, based on online raving reviews. We were feeling pretty lucky that there were still empty tables for us. The restaurant is not very crowded, but it is bustling with activities from the existing customers.

We were greeted by the staff and given the menu for ordering.

The menu: If only there were more pictures. I seldom eat Korean as I always think that Korean food is very spicy and would be too hot for me to handle. So pictures play a very important part when I can "see" what I am going to order.

After taking some time to decide on our order, we placed our orders and shortly after, our tables were set (with wet tissues, bowls and plates, depending on what we ordered), together with some side dishes.

Every table comes with these six side dishes which are refillable upon request. The lady boss even came to our table, smiling and asking if we need any top up for the side dishes. All the side dishes were delicious, making me anticipate whether our mains would be just as delicious. I love the bottom left and right side dishes the most. Not sure what's the bottom left side dish, could be potato with carrot marinated in some sweet sauce. The bottom right is mashed potato with crushed peanuts, love the soft and crunchy texture.

Kimchi Jeon (Small) - $6.00
Kimchi Pancake with seafood
We love pancakes (based on previous Korean dining experience, though not all were yummy-delicious, but it would not go that wrong). We had the small portion of the kimchi pancake with seafood, which is a 3 piece pancakes. This comes in large portion for $12.00. Taste delicious, but I am unable to really taste what are in the pancakes, maybe they chopped up everything too finely? Nevertheless, we liked this.

Soondubu Jjigae - $12.00
Spicy silken toufu soup with seafood
Although the soup looks like a one person portion, but it is just nice for the both of us. Very spicy and hot from the kitchen, the soup consists of toufu, two big prawns and quite a number of squid pieces. Maybe if there is a little more soup would be better. The bowl looks like most of the soup had evaporated and spilt over. Mid bowl, we had more ingredients than soup. Delicious but too spicy for us.

Kimchi Fried Rice - $12.50
Kimchi fried rice with Tuna/Pork
The hubby and I were shocked at the portion of the rice. It looks like a huge plate. Even the egg was a surprise as it's not in the description. The plating looks colourful and appetising. Upon future digging into the huge plate of fried rice, I came to the conclusion that although it looks alot, the rice portion is amplified with the generous amount of kimchi and pork slices. Delicious, but it was too spicy for us (again). And by this time, both of us were very full (not sure why). We did not managed to finish this plate of rice.

Guess we ordered too much? But we only ordered one rice, one soup and one pancake and we were ravenously hungry before we stepped into the restaurant. And yet we were unable to finish the fried rice, and we did not even ask for any refill for the side dishes. Maybe it's the spiciness? The hubby and I are not that good in handling spicy food.

The total bill came up to $38.00 for two person, including 2 mineral bottled waters ($1.00 each), 7% GST and 10% Service charge. The wet tissues were free.

We will definitely be back here again to try out the other dishes.

Curél Sebum Care

Do you know that excess sebum can aggravate skin sensitivity?

A lot of people who have both conditions – skin sensitivity and oily skin tend to place more emphasis on choosing products that help with their skin sensitivity.

This is not enough. Excess sebum generated will deteriorate as skin gets more alkaline, turning into irritants to cause flare-ups within the skin layers.

Hence it is important to choose products that effectively control skin sensitivity while reducing sebum secretion from the source.

Curél, Japan’s No. 1 brand for sensitive Asian skin, introduces a new skincare range specially formulated for sensitive and oily or combination skin types. The Curél Sebum Care range - comprising a Foaming Wash, Lotion and Moisture Gel - offers the skincare essentials to properly manage both skin sensitivity and sebum secretion.

Use the Curél Sebum Care range, after makeup removal, is in this sequence:
  1. Foaming Wash
  2. Lotion
  3. Moisture Gel

Benefits of using Curél Sebum Care range:

  • Every day after usage, skin will be kept in matt condition for 8 hours.
  • In 4 weeks, skin sensitivity and excess sebum will be under control.
  • Strengthen skin barrier function to protect skin against external irritants. Protects and replenishes ceramide, an essential component of skin, for a more resilient barrier
  • Oil and acne control. Regulate sebum secretion at the source.

Curel Sebum Care Foaming Wash $19.80/150ml

Ultra fine foam with sebum solvent to thoroughly cleanse dirt and excess sebum while protectng ceramide.

Usage:
  1. Apply two full pumps directly onto wet skin.
  2. Do not lather.
  3. Gentle massage and rinse off thoroughly

Curel Sebum Care Lotion $24.90/150ml

Non-sticky formula prepares skin for better absorption of moisturiser/essence that is used after the lotion.

Usage:
  1. After cleansing, apply lotion gently over the whole face.
  2. Apply twice daily, in the morning and at night.
  3. Lotion takes slightly more time to absorb. To aid absorption, pat clean hand on face repeatedly.

Curel Sebum Care Moisture Gel $34.90/120ml

Liquid based gel spreads easily for speedy absorption into deeper layers of skin without leaving skin sticky.

Usage:
  1. Apply three to four pumps gently over the entire face
  2. Apply twice daily, in the morning and at night.

My Review on Curél Sebum Care range

Two full pumps from the Curél Sebum Care Foaming Wash and applied it directly on my wet face. I like the texture of the foaming wash. The foam feels as if it's really washing off the dirt and oil while massaging my face with it. After washing off the foam with water, I can feel the matte texture of my face.

Next is to apply the Curél Sebum Care Lotion after drying off. Pumped about two pumps of the lotion and patted on my face. It is a clear, transparent liquid. It feels lightweight upon application, hence the clean feel from the wash is still there.

Lastly, I applied the Curél Sebum Care Moisture Gel. The gel is milky coloured. The gel immediately hydrated my face, giving my face the moisture it needs for the rest of the day.

My first application was done last night. And to my amazement, when I woke up this morning, my face still feels matte and my face was not oily at all. I like how my face feels this morning.

Let me try this for another 13 days to get the effect of the Curél Sebum Care range.

[Updated: 13 July 2014]
After trying out so many kinds/brands of basic face care (wash, toner, moisturiser), I feel that the Curél Sebum Care range is very suitable for my skin type. This range of products had greatly improved my oily yet dry complexion that has been going on for a while, that has caused me frequent outbreaks and blocked pores. I like how I wake up to a non oily face, and after a day out, my face does not feel like I have just came out of some oily cook house.

Curél Sebum Care range is available at selected Guardian and Watson’s stores from 16 June. For more

Cooler weather, cooler wind, please?

Don't you agree that the weather recently has been very hot? Even the wind that manages to blow once in a while is hot. My home utility bills for the past few months has only been getting higher and higher. We are unable to sleep without the air conditioner as even with two fans blowing, we had been sweating profusely. I even have heat rash now, and it's very itchy that sometimes it would wake me up in the middle of the night.

We went fan shopping recently and got a really powerful fan from Best Denki. A KDK stand fan (http://go.bestdenki.com.sg/fan/p40us-gold) recommended by the sales lady. Though it is powerful, it is still not enough and I think I have a little arthritis. My ankle, wrist, shoulders hurts when they are directly in the path of the wind. Oh man... Help us...

I wonder when will the weather turn better? Just a little cooler will be better with some cooling wind.

The best part of this water-based exfoliating gel is that it is suitable for even sensitive skin and it prevents skin problems like enlarged pores, blackheads, pimples, blemishes and dull skin tone. All of Cure Natural Aqua Gel's benefits are my problems solver.

The Cure Natural Aqua Gel is what it is described. It is a gentle, no fragrance exfoliating gel. It is so gentle to to a point that when I pumped out the gel, it almost feels like light weight water.

Pumped a small pump onto my hand to test out the effect.

Spread the Cure Natural Aqua Gel over a small area and leave it to rest for a while (about 1 to 2 seconds). The gel's colour will turn from transparent to milky white.

Gently rubbed the gel over the surface. The Cure Natural Aqua Gel will exfoliate the skin, and the gel will dry up into small bits, leaving the skin looking smoother and fairer.

My left hand now looks much smoother and fairer than my right hand. Guess I now have to pamper my right hand too. Haha...

Shopping at Carter's

I had just paid for my first US online shopping loots. And I am very happy. Tagged along girlfriend's shipment. There are so many cuties on Carter's, but had aimed only for those on sale with the 20% clearance sale on top of it. Not too sure whether these are suitable, but I had shopped happily. Don't you agree that they are so adorable? Hopefully the sweetie pie is able to fit in and likes them.

This loot's damage: US$53.13 (excluding international shipping via comgateway.com)

Not too sure if this first US spree is going to open up to future sprees. Will have to control a little more.

No place is sweeter than home

After 15 days, finally, the air of freedom to go home has come. He is happy like a child when the doctor endorsed the discharge. We are glad too. Though without the medical care, but at least he is going to rest in a familiar and comfortable place. No place is sweeter than home. But I am quite sure he is masking the pain he is in.

Image from www.gratisography.com

Some thoughts about the stay.
  • Visiting hours mentioned, is just a guide. We can visit the patient at anytime, as long as we don't make a ruckus and of course, don't be caught by the night patrolling security.
  • Nurses are very extraordinary individuals. They have to help patients clean, take care of all their needs, make sure they eat their medicine on time and are very vigilant to share their care and concern when patients show any signs of discomfort.
  • Communication of process flow is really important. It gives those waiting, a sense of assurance and give directions of what and where to go next.
  • Food provided is really bad. One shared, food is cooked to 80%, then stored and transported to the destination. When needed, the food is heated up before serving.
  • The journey to and fro daily is a very draining process.

Get well soon.

Freshly Recontracted Fibre Broadband 200Mbps

Our home Fibre Broadband (100Mbps) contracted has expired some time ago, and the hubby saw this same price promotion but twice the speed package that we can recontract with. It's the same service provider.

He attempted to do the recontract online earlier on, but the online system does not allow recontracting. Even after calling the hotline, the person said the same thing. So, last night, we went down to the shop. Signed up the 200Mbps Fibre broadband package (with free 1GB Mobile Data sim card for 2 years, and topped up $80 for a Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router for better coverage).

The new speed should be up by 12 midnight.

This was the speed on 18 June 2014 10pm (Tested via http://www.speedtest.net/)

This was the speed on 19 June 2014 10am (Tested via http://www.speedtest.net/)

Forgive my not so technical knowledge, but the numbers difference is not that big and, where are the rest of the rest of the 180Mbps? I know it is impossible to reach the full 200Mbps. But.. hmm.. to only get 5% out of the new 200Mbps, and only 6% out of the previous 100Mbps. My maths shouldn't be that bad right?

Collection Cosmetics Primed and Ready Makeup Primer

The silky formula of Collection Cosmetics Primed and Ready Makeup Primer ($16.90/18ml) provides a light coverage for a flawless complexion and a noticeably natural finish. A soothing makeup base, it minimizes pore problems, smoothes uneven skin and hides unsightly blemishes for the perfect base.

How to use:

Wear alone or under foundation for a flawless complexion.

Review on Collection Cosmetics Primed and Ready Makeup Primer:

The Collection Cosmetics Primed and Ready Makeup Primer is a small tube of make-up primer that it is very portable, fits easily in any makeup pouch. The packaging is a funky, cool metallic pink on black.

The primer is a transparent gel with little or no smell.

The Collection Cosmetics Primed and Ready Makeup Primer feels oily on the first touch. I thought that this primer is very oily, and would not be suitable for me. But after spreading out the primer, the oily feel disappeared. Instead, the area with the primer feels lightly powdered. I like this feeling, it is as light as though there is nothing yet soft and smooth.

The area with the primer applied, looks evened out and covered most of the lines on my hand.

Comparing the left (with the primer) and right hands (without anything), my left hand looks smoother, without the ugly lines and has a nicer, even skin color. And the hand looks natural, as if nothing was applied on it. My hand looks so youthful now.

Collection Cosmetics Primed and Ready Makeup Primer is an affordable, portable and natural looking makeup base that gives an evened skin, and hides blemishes and other problems on the face. Definitely a primer worth to try out.

Tak Po Dim Sum

We celebrated Father's Day with my FIL with Dim Sum breakfast. The hubby suggested going to Tak Po in Chinatown as being a non-porridge lover, he likes the congee there which is delicious and the dim sum was good.

We reached there about 8 plus in the morning. Luckily we were there a little earlier as there are still parking lots available at the market and Tak Po is still pretty empty. The place got pretty messy and crowded after the Hubby came back from parking. I find it messy as people came asking for tables for 5-9 pax, but only less than half arrived. The staff were instructed to only let the group get a table if all or 90% of the group has arrived and the customers were NOT happy to wait. But the staff have their instructions. Not much choice.

The pictorial 2 sided menu highlights about 70% of what they have. I'm a more visual person, so this menu is more appealing than the order chit. Looks good.

Here's the order chit...

Our orders came quite quickly. About 5 minutes wait. Here's our first group of order. The porridge is still in the making. Read on other reviews that the porridge takes some time to come.

Paper Wrapped Chicken $2.00
One word. Oily. Cold too. On the plate, it shows two pieces of chicken. Tearing open the paper, it is only the drumlet of the wing in one wrapped paper and the wing without the tip in another. Disappointed.

Prawn Roll Beancurd Skin $3.60
I do not like this. I think it has been fried and left at the table for some time. It is NOT crispy and it taste very oily. Maybe if we were given freshly fried ones, it would be better? But who knows.

Siew Mai $2.60
The siew mai tastes ok. Not especially nice, but acceptable.

Har Gao $2.70
The har gao, shrimp dumpling, tastes ok. Not especially nice, but acceptable. The prawns is fresh.

Teochew Dumpling $3.00
I have never tried a teochew dumpling before. The hubby likes it. There is a crispy texture in the filling, due to the water chestnut mixed in the meat.

Custard Bun $1.30 each piece
Disappointed in the size. Very expensive for a mini cupcake sized custard bun. And it's not shiok (satisfying) enough with this size. But the taste is to be applauded for. It taste nice and salty and the warm custard does flows out. The size of these custard buns need to be improved. Or maybe, improve the price.

Mixed Pork Congee $4.00
No wonder the hubby likes the congee. The congee is cooked to a soft texture, and will not feel too full from it. I like the congee. The FIL wanted to eat mixed pork congee but there are many other congees to choose from if pork does not suit you.

After finishing the first round of order, we do not feel satisfied. But about a minute after our second order went out, I was kind of feeling full. Haha.. Imagine the shocked face on the hubby.

Rice Roll with Prawn $3.50
Looks plain, but tastes pretty nice. Soft textured rice roll with fresh prawn.

Honey Baked Char Siew Pie $1.10 each piece
Nice Char Siew Pie. The skin is not too thick and the pie is filled with lots of char siew bits.

Crispy Yam Dumpling $1.00 each piece (on the right)
Not really a fan, as the whole yam dumpling is coated with too much oil.

Pan Fried Carrot Cake $0.90 each piece (on the left)
I love the pan fried carrot cake. Crispy exterior with soft texture inside.

Well, there was not really a need for a second round. We were all too full when the dim sum came. But I was glad we ordered the Carrot Cake. It's nice! I like.

The Chinese Tea costs $1.20 per each and Warm Water $0.50 each. We had returned the peanuts and wet tissues so as not to incur more cost. Our total bill for 3 pax is $36.60. There is no 10% service charge, only a 7% GST.

I would come back for the porridge, but not really for the dim sum. The fried stuff especially, were way too oily. You can choose to order take away from the smaller shop on its left (further down right in the picture). It is their express shop for takeaway.
