Kaohsiung : The Pier-2 Art Center 駁二藝術特區 + Takao Railway Museum 打狗鐵道故事館

The Pier-2 Art Center 駁二藝術特區

The The Pier-2 Art Center 駁二藝術特區 is a short walk (about 5 minutes) from the Orange line KRT to Yanchengpu Station 鹽埕埔站 (O2) Exit 1. Just follow the crowd. That's what we did. And we were there! Excited as there will be many artsy pieces there, and I'm super looking forward to the Bumblebee that was used in Mayday's DNA concert. By the way, if we were able to travel around on bicycles, it would be much easier. So, do rent a bicycle to travel around if you are able to cycle.

Art on building...

It seems too hot to sit here under the sun for a chit chat.

Here's the bumblebee that Mayday 五月天 used in their DNA concert. Lots of people were here taking photo with the huge guy.

This looks amazing. Drawn on a tall building.

Many other art pieces along the way. There are some exhibitions around this section of the art center. We saw Snoopy, Crayon Shin-chan and some others, but we did not went to any. Admission fee is required, on average, about NTD300 per person.

Crossing this road will bring us to the other part of the Art Centre. Huge mascots on either side of the road.

More art pieces here.

If you continue to walk on the path from here onwards, you will be able to reach the Takao Railway Museum (on the next half of this post). We just walked from one station to the next. Haha..

Takao Railway Museum was the first railway station in Kaohsiung, originally Takao Post, built during the Japanese rule of Taiwan. Now, the place has been classified by the government as a historical building.

To reach Takao Railway Museum, take the Orange line KRT to Sizihwan Station 西子灣站 (O1)

The museum is just next to the KRT exit. Once you exit the KRT from exit 2, the museum is just in front.

The old time table the train station used to use.

Huge black cool retro train.

Trains. All these trains were the ancestors of the current functioning trains.

We actually came from The Pier-2 Art Center 駁二藝術特區. This patch of flowers and the wooden pathway is the connecting area of the two attractions. I was quite shocked that they were linked and we had reached the museum when I finally got to the front door. Haha.. I know the Pier-2 Art Center was huge, but not this huge.
