Happy First Birthday!

Today darling turns one year old. How time flies. It has already been 12 months after she was born. Feeding her liquid gold for 12 months. Waking up a few times every night for 12 months. Spending every minute and seconds with her for 12 months. Gosh. Time really flew...

Her birthday falls on a Saturday. We had a mini celebration at home with family only. Setup the decoration for the party two days before. Slowly doing up the decoration by myself. Hubby is busy with his ongoing course this month. So I just did my part as a goody wife (self claim) and wonderful mammy (self claim) hahaha..

We ordered a Prima Deli rainbow cake with a groupon voucher (some savings yay!). No words were requested to be written on it as the cake "topper" and the candle says it all. The cake topper is a Pooh bear model from my collection. Looks not too bad right?

The celebration is a family only event, with about 10 adults. We catered food from Stamford Catering.

Here's what we ordered.
Mini Party Sets @ $95.00+
$95.00+ ($101.65 with GST) Per Set (Min. 1 set - Each set for 8-10 Pax)

That's So SG
Wok Fried Rice with Crabmeat and Salted Fish
Golden Chicken with Lemon Sauce
Fragrant Spiced Prawn
Signature Curry Vegetables
Chilled Honeydew Sago Dessert

Overall not too bad, though the chicken is alittle too tough and the prawns too, hard. Haha. Oh and they were late. Delivery man explained that the kitchen was late in handing over the food. Poor guy. He was so stressed.

First we started with the chinese tradition of choosing occupation. Baby chose the Pooh book. Lol. And I forgot to give her the huge drumstick that I had prepared. Sad.

Next. Birthday song, photos and cake!

After all the celebration, we had Josie eat or play with her small smash cake. Made by me. Smash cake session failed. Baby doesn't know what to do with it. Haha. Sad.

The last part of the day, present opening! There's the huge Pooh ride present from Jiujiu, Yiyi and Shushu. Book and magnetic drawing board from Lerxin jiejie (neighbour). Pull and play turtle from Adeline yiyi. Laugh and play handbag from Tammy aunty. Pooh mattress cover and top from Janice aunty. And all the angbaos from gonggong, popo, yeye, nainai, shushu, and Xinying & Chyilin yiyis. Thank you everyone.

Happy one year old my darling. Mammy and Daddy wish that you be happy, healthy and grow up to be a fine lady (Mammy tearing.. Her baby is growing uo so quickly. ) XOXO

Kaohsiung : Fo Guang Shan 佛光山

PS: This will be a long post with many photos.

After a much complicated directions online on how to get to the Fo Guang Shan 佛光山, we decided to take the KRT to Zuoying Station and then take the bus, 哈佛快線. Exit the Zuoying KRT Station and wait at Bus Platform 2 for the 哈佛快線 to come. There is a time schedule for the bus to arrive. Each bus trip cost NTD70 per person. You can use the iPass to tap in and out for the journey.

Alternatively, based on online reviews, you can take bus 8010/8011 at 高雄客运. It is just opposite our hotel and behind 国光客运. However, it is not recommended by the staff there as it is a much longer time and distance, that's why she recommended us to take the 哈佛快線 at Zuoying.

Here's the bus. We waited quite some time as we were early.

Here's the bus schedule.

We have reached Fo Guang Shan 佛光山. A little overwhelmed by the map. It's a huge place. And since it's on a hill, there are alot of slopes and stairs. Just thinking about it make my knees go weak.…

Kaohsiung : Food and more food

Besides eating at Night Markets, we also went to some recommended places online and on TV. These places are not that near from the KRT and need some working out on feet.

BO 雪球餅乾咖啡館 BO Schneebälle Cafe 新光三越高雄左營店3F | Shin Kong Mitsukoshi (Zuoying) level 3

We had accidentally went past this cafe in Zuoying Shin Kong Mitsukoshi 星光三越. The hubby saw a TV show recommending this special biscuit ball where you need to hammer it to eat in smaller pieces. We tried it as it was quite fun. We had the chocolate flavoured one.

The huge wooden hammer in shop to break the biscuit ball into pieces.

I think we hammered too much... Haha the ball became overly small pieces. It's delicious.

You can buy as gifts. If I remember correctly, three balls into one container.

I am pretty regretful that I did not buy more to bring home. I like the taste of it a lot. And I am missing it so much. Ahh.. Delicious.

Kaohsiung : Cijin Island 旗津島

PS: This will be a long post with many photos.

After visiting The Pier-2 Art Center 駁二藝術特區 and the Takao Railway Museum 打狗鐵道故事館 in the morning, our following itinerary was to head to the Cijin Island 旗津島. By the way, if we were able to travel around on bicycles, it would be much easier. So, do rent a bicycle to travel around if you are able to cycle. Especially for The Pier-2 Art Center 駁二藝術特區 and on Cijin Island 旗津島.

About 10-15 minutes walk from the Orange line KRT station, Sizihwan Station 西子灣站 (O1), you will be able to reach the ferry terminal. Follow the signs (鼓山渡轮站) on the lamp posts to get to the ferry terminal.

The ferry also ferries passengers travelling with bicycles and motorcycles. For us, without any cycles, it costs NTD15 per person per trip. You can pay in cash or iPass.

The ferry ride is only about 5 to 10 minutes. Cijin Island 旗津島 is just opposite, separated by the waters. The ferry terminal looks nicer on the island.

There's a temple on the island. Cihhou Godde…
