1 Market by Chef Wan

1 Market has been opened for a while and my first time here with 3 girlfriends. Our celebration of Hari Raya holidays. Lunch starts at 11.30am and I was early. People were peeping in curiously and about 10 minutes before opening, both the walk-in and reservations queue were long.

Located on level 4 of the new extension of Plaza Singapura, 1 Market is a buffet themed huge restaurant by chef Redzuawan Ismail, more widely known as Chef Wan, http://mychefwan.com/, a Singapore-born Malaysian celebrity chef. 1 Market is also a collaboration with foodcourt chain, Food Junction. An important fact of 1 Market, it is a halal buffet restaurant, a great place for gathering with friends who are muslim.

We were seated just next to the cold seafood counter. First attack: snow crabs and prawns!

The prawns were DELICIOUS. I had six? haha High cholesterol. However the long legs of the snow crab is a little too salty and we think that they were not super fresh? Why? The meat was stuck to the shell. The other time I had snow crab legs elsewhere, we only need to cut a little and pull, and the meat will come out nicely. But now when I pull, only a little meat was detached from the shell and alot of cutting need to be done.

Next, sushi and sashimi~ Yum yum...

There were alot of cooked, hot food to choose from. The food were cooked in a very Malay style.

The satay is pretty nice. You can choose beef or chicken satay.

Chef TS making rojak for us to eat.

The keropok is nice. haha we ate quite a lot of these. Really nice.

Finally, desserts! We were all very full from eating, but there is ALWAYS place for desserts and coffee. The spread of desserts is not a much as I had hoped for. Just this corner.

Girlfriends went to stock a plateful of desserts and cookies. I love the chocolate almond cookies. Yummy.

Waffle ice cream. I was disappointed with the waffle. It's hard and cold. For the ice cream, you have to ask the chef over the counter. You can choose Vanilla or strawberry and the syrup topping is self serve.

Chef Wan's reminder: Love food. Don't waste it. Take only what you can finish =)

A super duper filling lunch with my pretty girlfriends. To be honest, there was a point (not even halfway into the meal), I was feeling drowsy and stoning away while encouraging them to eat more hahaha

Not too sure whether the dinner dishes are the same as lunchtime. I wouldn't mind going back for a lunchtime buffet, but for dinner, it's a little pricey. Call +65 6341 9159 to make a reservation before heading there.
