Being "in control"

Feels nice to be "in control" again. Humans are such contradictory creatures. I guess that everyone has that little (or for some people, big) ego or pride somewhere. Being useful makes me feel a little more confident. I guess...

Tomorrow is another long day........

Apple Cinnamon Infused (Detox) Water

The hubby saw a list of detox water (http://fooditus.com/10-top-rated-homemade-detox-water-recipes/) and asked me to prepare for him. Thing was, I already did that once and he kinda think that it's just water, even though I told him it's good for health.

I guess the keyword was detox water and not infused water. =.=|||

So today... I made Apple Cinnamon Infused (Detox) Water.

Ingredients
  • 1 Apple thinly sliced
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • Half pitcher of ice
  • Water to fill up the rest of the pitcher

Method
  1. Drop apple slices to the bottom of the pitcher and place in the cinnamon stick.
  2. Cover with ice about 1/2 way through and fill the rest with water.
  3. Cool in the fridge for about an hour before serving.

Apple Cinnamon Water lasts for 24 hours in the fridge.

Okie.. the cinnamom is a little too strong and overpowered the apple. Guess I will not soak the cinnamom in the water for too long the next time.

Next to try, the Cucumber Lemon Mint or the Lemon Ginger.

Thank you for the hand-me-downs

I am very grateful to two mummies who had passed me their preloved and/or brand new items from their babies who had already outgrown them. From maternity clothings, to baby wear, to baby gears and to confinement food. Quite a number of items.

I do not mind preloved items, since they are still in good, working conditions. Some may think that, it's the first child, everything must be new new new. But we are happy and grateful for their generosity.

Thank you.

At 30 weeks 2 days

Hubby and I went for our appointment at 30 weeks 2 days in KK Hospital. As usual, be it Clinic B or The Private Suite, the waiting time was pretty long. But TPS is a a little faster (it was our first time there after all this time as our available dates and timings always do not match with the clinic's).

Dr Khoo, our dedicated gynae, look pretty tired when we saw him. Guess it was very long day at work today. It was almost 8:30pm then. He did the scan and we saw our LO on screen. Doc showed us the head, which was downwards in the correct position. Hope our LO stay that way all the way till delivery date. Next was the heart's four chambers that looks great on screen. He also measured the body circumference to measure the LO's weight.

First measurement scared all of us. The LO was about 1.7kg. Doc was saying, woah... too big... and had asked me to cut down on durians, burgers, kfc and icecream. Guiltily, I had McDonalds twice this week, but usually I don't eat it that often and I just had ice cream the night before. Oops. Doc attempted to measure again and this time the measurement was about 1.6kg. At this week, the LO should be around 1.5kg. So still a little on the bigger side.

So... I have to watch my diet. And I am a little devastated about the ice cream part T_T It's my comfort food now.

Then the hubby got to use the Doppler to hear our LO's heartbeat. It was only after leaving the room that I remembered, we forgot to record the heartbeat sound, AGAIN. Oh man... Feeling down...

Gotten my supplements, paid my bills and we were out from TPS by 9pm. Our appointment was 7.45pm. Not too long a wait. Our next appointment is at 35 weeks, which I was a little surprised as I thought after hitting 30 weeks, we will be seeing our gynae more often instead? Not too sure... But I do miss seeing our LO.

My dear LO, another 9 weeks 5 days to your estimated arrival.
XOXO

Alive Museum Singapore

Compliments of omy.sg, I got to visit Alive Museum Singapore with one guest for free. And I got the hubby, who luckily is free, to go with me. He is more ON in posing lamely than me. Haha..

Alive Museum Singapore, newly opened in June this year, is a 3D illusionary museum in Singapore that offers a sensory experience that tricks one/s visual, physical and environmental perceptions. It is located in Suntec City Mall Level 3.
Alive Museum first started in Korea as Trick Art Museum in Seong-eup, Jeju Island, and changed its name to “Alive Museum” in 2012. Since then, there are 15 branches of Alive Museum globally, making it the largest chain of 3D interactive illusionary art museum in the world. Outside South Korea, Alive Museum is also in Turkey, Vietnam, Thailand, China and now (from June 2014), in Singapore.

Alive Museum Singapore has over 80 masterpieces and 9 of which are themed locally and unique to Singapore. The museum has plans to engage local communities from various walks of life to create artworks that they think define the essence of Singapore. Hence, by year-end, the total number of artworks in the museum will be more than 100 pieces.

Art installations (Trick Art, Digital Art, Object Art and Experimental Art) that interact with visitors, change their perceptions, wrap their physical world, all captured as fun photo memories.

Collected our tickets, and off we go into the world of illusionary art.

Some of the artworks that we didn't pose with. Either too many people, too many photobombs or simply just.. didn't pose.

The dragon in the tunnel that looks very real life.
Steve Jobs catching "you" looking at seductive photos on a Samsung/Apple laptop?
I just find it too horrible to pull the ah pek's teeth =(
Hook your shirt near the baby's hand and you will be easily "lifted" up by the strong baby
Mischievous Elephant sniffing you or your butt.
If only there were three of us. One in each eye and a photographer.
Ever dreamed of being saved by Superman?

We had fun posing at the lesser crowded artworks at the point of time. It got pretty irritating at one or two areas where there are bigger groups of visitors and they take turns posing and REposing in the small area, and making us feel as if we were being extras there and blocking their way x_X

Ouch! Hammered on the head

Love this shot. A high jump attack!
Look! I'm so flexible.

Home representative! Cheers cheers!

This cute little girl is simply just too cute. When her mummy asked her to hold and save the penguins then smile, she happily stomped her feet and smile and laughed. She is so adorable.

Free WiFi access inside the museum is available for visitors to upload and share their fun snapshots immediately with friends and family.

Check out the photo point photo sticker on the floor to see where your camera should be pointing to get the best effect in your photographs.

Advised to go in a group of three as some of the artworks require a third person around to take the photo. Try not to go in too huge a group as the place, even though spacious, but when there are too many other groups, the place simply just got too cramp.

And don't wear a skirt. There's this mirror room, that you would not want to go into when wearing a skirt. The room is hard to get in too due to the number of people waiting to get the room to their selves and there is no alternative route to go pass it if you do not want to wait. Patience...

Homecook Prawn and Sausage Penne with Tomato-Mushroom sauce

"Inspired" by GF, who was going home to make dinner, I went along to get some groceries to make dinner too. Doing a wee bit duty as a wife (Psst. I'm quite a lazy wife and cooking for two is a chore, especially with so much leftover ingredients unused.)

Simple dinner: Prawn and Sausage Penne with Tomato-Mushroom sauce.

Serves 2
Total Time 30 minutes

Ingredients
  • 2 sausages
  • 1 small canned mushroom
  • 8 pieces of prawns
  • 1 canned tomato
  • 300g Penne pasta (It's a little more than for 2 pax as hubby was hungry)
  • 1 egg (Thinking back, it was very redundant)
  • Some oil
  • Some salt
Preparation
  • Slice the sausages into small slices
  • Dice the mushroom into smaller pieces
  • Deshell the prawns and toss for a little while in salt

Method
  • Pan fry the sausage slices in oil till the edges turn a little brownish
  • Pan fry the prawns in oil
  • Boil the penne pasta in water for 11 minutes. Stirring it frequently
  • Heat up the tomato sauce and add in the diced mushroom.
  • Then plate up and dinner is ready

I had the intention to make the tomato sauce from scratch, but GF told me to just get the can. Which I'm glad I did. It is quite a hassle to do it from scratch. Haha..

At the end of the meal, Hubby says it's pretty tasty, though I feel that I should take out the penne a little earlier. I had tasted the pasta and felt it would be better if it cooked for another minute or two, but I should had just kept to 11 minutes. Oh and the egg is pretty redundant.

Successful attempt! Woohoo.. Kind of boosted my confidence, so maybe another meal soon? We'll see...
