My Blog, My Life

I have combined both http://thedaintymummy.blogspot.sg/ and http://thedaintycandy.blogspot.sg/ into this blog. I shall focus my blog on my life, all the big and small things that happened to me, my baby, my Latte boy and my dearest love.

I shall re introduce myself.

I am a SAHM (Stay at home mum). I chose to stay at home to look after my child. My hubby is able to take care of the household with his income as long as we spend wisely. When the time comes for me to head back to work, I will. But for now, I will do my best to take care of our home and our kids.

I blog leisurely. I love to eat. I bake once in a while. I try my best to cook everyday so that my dearest love can come home to homecooked meals. I do some freelance but not always as I prefer to commit my time to my baby. I craft leisurely, be it sewing, crochet, or anything that comes to mind.

Alright. I'll stop here for now. Spent quite a bit of time merging the blogs and cleaning up.

Next, cleaning up my labels (headache!) and a new blog template (soon).

Thanks for spending time to read my ramblings. Haha..

Welcome to The Dainty Mummy

Welcome. This is a spin off from my existing blog, The Dainty Candy. This new blog will hold all my blog posts on being a mummy-to-be, a mummy. Yep, I am going to be a mummy in another 11 weeks time and I cannot wait for my Little One to be part of our lives.

The first thing I have to do after setting up this blog is... beautify the blog template. Haha.. This is going to take some time. But most probably, the template will be pretty similar to my personal blog, The Dainty Candy. So for the time being, do be patient with this work-in-progress template.

I will still be posting while designing is in progress. Do stick around. Thank you.

Most Popular Bloggers in Singapore 2013

Wow.. I'm honored. My blog ranked me as one of the "Most Popular Bloggers in Singapore 2013", ranking 30. A list of 36 local blogs was compiled by Bryan Choo on http://www.thesmartlocal.com/. It's my first time getting any "award" for my blog. The ranking in the article is based on the 17th August 2013's ranking. thedaintycandy.blogspot.sg is ranked 613,210 in the Alexa World Ranking. Cool! World Ranking!
This article will contain a list of the 36 most popular blogs in Singapore. Choosing the "Best Blog in Singapore" is a very subjective thing and perhaps 'best' is not the perfect word for it. To be completely transparent this ranking is actually determined solely by Alexa traffic numbers.

I am flattered by the compliments from the author. Truly. One point to note on why most of my posts are about food; the hubby likes to eat, and he tries to bring me to different places to eat so that I can blog about them. Maybe if I travel more often, my blog will be more like a travel blog? *hint hint* :P

Curious about my friends' blog ranking and their ranking is wayyyyy better than mine. haha... I will have to buck up by ALOT.
Curious to see how much traffic you get compared to the rest of the world? Simply go to Alexa and enter your blog address. A rank under 3,000,000 is generally good for a blogger, remember, this ranking is pitting you against all the websites in the world and there are billions of them! A rank under 1,500,000 is very good and a rank under 500,000 probably means you're a strong influencer and should leave a comment here so i can add you to the list. :)

New Dainty Candy

Completed tweaking my new blog skin. With new widgets to display more things.

Here's my previous candy pink on black wood texture background. Reserved colour for text.

Here's my new pastel colour skin, with pastel turquoise as the primary colour.

With the new right column, I have added more widgets. Instagram gallery, showing some of my latest photos on Instagram. Twitter feed, pulling and displaying my tweets. Blog roll, showing the latest posts by my friends and some blogs I read. Added in a javacript back to top button.

And also instead of sticking my header to the top of my browser in my second version, I stuck the footer to the bottom of my browser in this version. Changed the footer into a one liner, with some of my social links at the bottom.

Not a drastic change though. Love my new blog skin.

Work in Progress

Starting to build the new skin.
Please pardon any styling errors ;)
Thank you for understanding.

[edit]
30% completed - Color scheme roughly implemented..
90% completed - Two column layout done.

New look coming soon...

When I first published this skin, I had mixed comments. Some thinks it's nice, with the striking pink contrasting with the dark background. Some tell me the site is too dark for a food blog.. Although.. Sighs.. My blog is NOT a food blog. It's my open online diary, and also a tool for me to design and create blog skins periodically.

Since the skin is 6 months old, I should work on a new layout. This time, I'm thinking of a two column layout and wider. Actually I still don't really want a two column layout. It's too complicated. But people still prefer the "traditional" blog look over a "read-only-one-column-layout" look.

This time, I'll work with pastel colours. It's the new trend now (see the colours of the products in retail stores)..

Stay tune...

New Dainty Candy

Even though this blog is only one and a half weeks old, I had given it a new look. From the simple white and grey version, to a dark and pink version. Not much changes in the layout though. This new look and feel gives more credit to the blog's candy name. Version one took about two days, while version two took me half a day. Well, the structure and all the CSS are already in place, hence it's more of tweaking the colors and the design elements.

And yep. I love this new look. Do you?

Version One on the left, Version Two on the right

Hey there. Welcome.

This is not a food blog, even though the name much suggest it. It is an online space where I post about places I go, things I did, food I ate and stuff. I like to take photos of things I do and see. An amateur though. And most of the photos are taken by my iPhone 4.

This is a personal blog, but without the names and photos of people whom were with me, to protect them. And not advertising or badmouthing any. Just my personal opinion for my future reference.
A public personal blog, I would say.

Cheers.

* Do pardon my bad writing, grammar and all :)
