Yoghurt

Baby eats yoghurt for the first time. And I think she likes it. Haha. Not blw, but spoonfed.

She finished half of this. Mundella banana yoghurt for babies and toddlers. I wonder if she can eat the normal plain yoghurt that we adults eat? Hmm.. Think no right?

Baby eating toufu

9 months 26 days

Today baby tried toufu. She finished one-sixteenth of the packed toufu from NTUC. She showed interest initially. But got bored halfway through.

We'll try again tomorrow. Hopefully she still show interest.

I had just acknowledged the fact that... Maybe... Baby rejecting food is a phase for some babies... Maybe...

It has been a long tiring 2 months, battling her with choices of food, feeding her or she self feed. And it's even more demoralising when people just comment with the intent of saying "You never try enough". Like really...... You should see what happened at every meal, everyday, the past few weeks.

Apple slices

Today is "eat happy meal" day again. Every thursday there will be a new minion toy with every McDonalds Happy Meal purchased.

Today I ordered the meal with apple slices, so that baby can eat with me. She doesn't eat, my hands were full from settling her. She eats, my hands were also full lol. Another faster eat, faster go off meal.

It's my first time ordering apple slices. The packaging looks cute.

Baby attempted to eat 2 slices before she got bored. In between she offered it to Latte, who was at home. Lol. I think she's used to having Latte around.

Baby Pasta Stars

A recommendation from the Westie OMG (October Mummies Group 14). HEINZ baby pasta stars for baby to try out. Something else to eat since baby hates porridge. And most purée. I gave baby mixed feeding as my elders do not believe in pure blw. And well... I'm greatly affected by them.

I only cooked 2 small baby spoonfuls to try out. Anyway her attention span and appetite won't last that long if I cooked more.

I gave her plain pasta and I am so glad she finished it. She was interested in eating this. Leaning forward with mouth open. Mashing the pasta with the gums and tongue.

I will try out with added ingredients after a few more feeds. Just in case....

Baby Led Weaning - Peach

8 months 13 days

Someone posted letting their bub eat peach and loving it. I wanted to let baby try too but I was not able to find peach in my nearby supermarket. So I went a little further and bought a box of 8 for $11.45. Wow. Now I know peaches are that expensive.

Baby seems to like it. Gagging on serveral occasions though. She ate quite a bit as compared to food. Ok. I'm a happy mama. Finally something she eats a little more and showing interest.

The expensive peach lol

First taste of Durian

8 months 11 days

Baby had her first taste of durian. She doesn't seem to reject it. She's all smiles and leaning forward for another mouthful. Guess she likes it? Haha

Baby led weaning - Banana

Banana is very easy to prepare. No need to cook and it's easy to peel and cut. But it's super duper messy. LO jus smash it everywhere. The tray, her fingers, her hair, her face...

I think... She likes banana too. Not too sure. Let her try a few more times.

Baby led weaning - Potatoes

She likes potatoes. But I think I made it too soft the second time. She's cool with either texture.

Lol Latte photobombed. We have to put him in the fence whenever she eats. He's too fast whenever Josie drops her food lol.

Baby led weaning - Carrot, Apple

Baby started eating solid food when she turned 6 months old. We chose to let her eat via baby led weaning.

We only attempt once to twice a day. She still hasn't shown much interest in eating. Mostly gumming and sucking. So I wonder if we're doing it right. I hope so.

Boiled carrots (10-13 April, 4days) - she was more interested in it, gumming more on the last day.

Boiled apples (from 14 april for 4 days) - less interest as compared to carrots. I wonder why. Boiled apples actually taste really nice. Very sweet.
// Update (17 Apr 2015) - we think she doesn't like boiled apples. Most of the apples end up on the floor than in her mouth :( Next up: Avocado.

Here's what baby led weaning means in summary.

And since she started on solids, it's time to introduce water. Drinking from a sippy cup. She can hold. She can put to her mouth. But unable to hold it high enough for the water to flow out. And she keep licking with her tongue.

And babies below 6 months should not drink water. It's intoxicating for their small body. Even formula fed babies should not drink milk that is diluted, more water than the milk powder ratio.

Back to LO's BLW. Hopefully she has more patience to eating and drinking by herself. I'm worried that I would give up soon. Peer pressure from family and friends T_T

"Why no feed her food?"
"Why let her eat such hard food? Later choke how?"
"She know how to eat meh?"
"Should start puree first"
