Escape Restaurant & Lounge

Hubby brought us out to a buffet dinner last Sunday. Escape Restaurant & Lounge is located in One Farrer Hotel, which is conveniently just beside Farrer Park MRT.

I was quite surprised with the seafood section. There’s crabs, prawns, mussels and clams. And I almost missed out the OYSTERS as it’s a highly popular dish, leaving only a few pieces on its bed of ice. Ahh oysters. I terribly missed those from our Australia trip. These just filled the loneliness.

The mains were not much in my favour though. I like the Indian cuisine section. Lots to choose from. My carbo intake is mainly from there.

The desserts were pretty, special too, though I prefer the chocolate-ish ones. There’s the chocolate fountain for the marshmallow lovers (the kids’ favourite), self scoop icecream on a cone (sadly, there is only ripples and vanilla) and a rack full of popping candles, chocolates, sweets, for the sugar loving people (ah... young children’s favourite too).

Highlight: They served us a one time special. Half a cheese baked lobster for each patron. Oh the cheese. Definitely the highlight of the meal.

We had our fill. Leaving with three bloated tummies full of food. We enjoyed ourselves.

Splashing Fun

We spent the afternoon splashing water at the Pasir Ris Swimming Complex. It's my first time there. We went there after our bingsoo. 

The swimming complex is marked as a feature pool. Very new looking, with a lap pool, a tiny medium pool and a pool with "playground" for children. Overall. Small. 

The medium pool is crowded with children and coaches. The lap pool, I don't really remember how it was haha. I don't really swim after having Josie. My focus is on her and things for her. 

The children pool is very shallow, what we will call the baby pool. Great for young children to splash water and get used to being in the water. Josie had fun. She kept wanting to go up the playground. But she's too young and not tall enough to play on her own. The lifeguard doesn't allow anyone above 1.2m up the playground.

Here's our xmm showing approval of what's she's having. She ate the bingsoo one mouth after another (direct translate: 一口接一口 lol). 

Our B.F.F. (Berries Fresh Fruit) bingsoo. It comes with 3 fruit choices, berry sauce and cranberries. We ordered Strawberry, Blueberry and Mango.

Fireworks NDP2016:NE1

For many years, hubby and I were not able to watch the live NDP fireworks. Too many activities maybe? Haha

Today. We went. The 3 of us. It is Josie's third time seeing fireworks. First was last year's ndp preview or smthing, we watched it with my sister at Marina Barage. Second was at Disneyland HK. 

Today. She was still mesmerized by it, but with alot of 怕s (scared in Mandarin). Recently she keeps saying this word.

Movie : Finding Dory

We went for a morning movie Finding Dory at 10am today. And there were only 4 groups of people in the cinema. Shiok.

Josie sat through 75% of the movie, before getting bored and wandered alittle a few seats away from us. 

Nice show. But it got alittle boring and draggy just about the time Josie got bored. Lol. Maybe she felt the same too huh.

Zoo with Katelynn

Got a last minute invitation from Katelynn's papa to go to the zoo. While Josie's papa was still hesitating, Josie's mama wanna go! Lol

When we reached the gates of the zoo, the staff at the entrance RUDELY asked "How old is your child?" Pointing to Josie. Angry. First, Josie is not even 2. Second, what a way to start my zoo trip with such rudeness. 

A child aged 3 and above requires a ticket. Still a long way to go for Josie. Don't make it sound like we trying to bluff our way through. Angry.

Navy @ Vivo 2016

After our feeding the little animals trip, we headed to VivoCity to check out the Navy open house. 

Josie checking out the huge ship. We didn't ballot for the tickets to visit the ship, but later at the fair, we realised they have walk ins and there are slots available. However, shirts and slippers are not allowed. We failed with the slippers part. Lol. Wasted. 

We got Josie to try on the Navy's Number 1 uniform too. 

And here's the cute little officer. Navy has this whatsapp to get the softcopy service for this photo session. But I only received it 2 days later. Alittle too lag lol. But better than nothing! 

After visiting around their exihibits, we went for lunch before heading home for her nap. Ps. We past her naptime. 

Farmart - Animal Corner

It's Sunday morning. Josie woke up at 7am. Yawns. So, let's do some activities together! 

Farmart! It's nearby and we can see little animals. 

The animal corner is not very big. There are turtles, kois, parrots, mice, rabbits, frogs and goats. And we can feed the animals. $5 for a set of feeding ingredients.

Josie was reluctant to feed the animals as she was scared. But she got braver as she feeds them, as long as the daddy carries her.

It was a really hot day. We went off shortly after feeding the animals. 

Side note. The animals seem really hungry. I was reluctant to buy the food to feed them due to..... But it's a great learning experience for the children. Dilemma. Sighs. 

Our Army Exhibition 2016

Before having a kid, the events I signed up for are sales, blogger events, food tasting, runs, blah. Now, the events are all child/mom related. If not, they are places where my little one will enjoy herself through play, learn and entertainment. #randomthought

Today, we went for Our Army Exhibition 2016. This weekend, the event is held at Toa Payoh Central. There were lots of people! And it was raining. 

We queued and had Josie's photo taken at the photo booth, while she's wearing the kid's Number 1 uniform. So cute! But she look so stunned here haha. Printout took about 15 minutes to process. I'm glad and amazed that she was able to stand there by herself for the photo. Usually after a few seconds, she will run back to us, shyly. 

She was not keen to board the big rides. I guess the huge machines scare her. If not, the unfamiliar uncles scare her. Haha. We managed some posing with the machines as background. 

She look so mini here. 

I managed to get a goodie bag too. Just like "The Singapore Army" facebook page and show it to the information booth. Post a photo on Instagram or Facebook with the hashtag #OurArmyExhibition2016 and get two more goodies. Haha... And... The cardboard models included in the goodie bags are so cute!

Good Friday - Tanjong Pagar Railway Station

Today is a Public Holiday! A Good Friday. I love public holidays as it means the hubby is spending the day with us.

Josie woke up pretty early today. A little before 7am. But I was too tired, hence I self snoozed alittle until she went to karjiao the daddy to wake up. Haha.. Then I proposed that we go to the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, that is opened to public today from 9am to 6pm. (Saw the news a few days ago).

The next time it opened its doors is on Labour Day, 1st May 2016

The place is filled with people. But we're glad we went in the morning. I saw friends' posts about their visit that was even more crowded.

Saturday

This afternoon, we went to the hubby's company's event. There were food (I didn't eat much in case they realise why the hubby's wife is so HUNGRY), games for the kids, movie screening, portrait drawing and tattoo airspraying. Mostly kids stuff. 

The portrait drawing done for Josie. So cute. Made me regret not taking a video of her drawing. 

I had my arm inked too. Intially we chose this design for Josie. A unicorn, less scary for her. But it's too big on her. So... I had it done on me. Just me bein selfish and bossy. Cos I want to hear her point to my arm and say "美美" (pretty). Heh. 

I didn't manage to take much photos cos of the certain rule. But I wonder if it's still valid during events with kids especially. Haha. All the mamas just wanna take photos of their kids. Lol.
