Fever again

Yesterday, Josie woke up with a fever from her midday nap. 38 degrees. It lasted till about 2am it went up to 39 degrees +.

This morning, her temperature fluctuates between 38 and 39. And I was pretty impatient with her as she wants to nurse and her bear round the clock. Sigh.

Get well soon darling.

Fever

Josie is having a fever since last night. It topped 39.7 degrees. So worrying. She wanted to sleep. So I can't really wipe her, as she will feel irritated.

This morning after a bath, her temperature stayed around 38 degrees. Hopefully her fever goes away soon. My poor baby.

Baby's itchy neck

It's 1 am in the morning. Raining heavily. I was awaken by the rain. Next, by Josie's neck scratching. Sigh. I don't why she keep scratching her neck. It only happens when we uses fan to sleep for the night. She is usually ok with aircon. Too hot? But I have two fans turned on and one near to her.

I gave her milk and she's a little better now. But I can't sleep. Gosh. I better sleep before she ask for milk in another 2 hours time.

Yes. Josie, now 13 months old, still wakes for milk every 1 to 3 hourly at night... And through the day. And I had many raised eyebrows. Hey. When a baby gotta drink, a baby GOTTA drink.  Haha

Back to sleep... I'll try...

Cut and swollen lip

Baby recently likes to push her ride perpendicular to the wheels. Fell once across it before. Face forward. Cried but that's all.

Today. She did it again.

But there's blood today. And a cut lip. And it's swollen. She cried but only for 2 minutes max.

All right in front of me. And I didn't managed to prevent it. I'm feeling so damn guilty. I know it's part of growing up. But it's part of me to feel guilty too.

Redeeming myself with free flow milk/ comfort nursing. Sigh. Mammy's heart is in pain.

Happy news

Tha happiest news for today. This morning. Baby pooped!! Like finally. She had not pooped for 4 days. Today is the 5th day. Luckily and finally she did. We had her drink water mixed with a sachet of probiotics yesterday morning and today.

This is the probiotics she takes whenever this situation happens.

Happy for the small yet important things in life. #lifeofamother #lifeofafather

Fall

9 months 19 days

Baby fell off the bed. Again. 2nd time in 9 months. Sighs.. I feel really bad for not looking after her.

This time was pretty bad. There's a side table and a weighing machine in the way. I have no idea where she got hit. The nose looks bad. I saw a small cut on the ear lobe. I think her forhead looks alittle protruded. I think her chin is a little red but gone after 30minutes.

Omg.... What a bad mammy.....

Update on the fever

9 months 10 days

4th day since her fever. Baby's temperature is back to normal.

But her cough is worse. There is phlegm. Sounds very thick and uncomfortable. She had vomited out milk (loads of milk) when she just fell asleep for the night after a coughing fit.

Sighs. My poor baby. She feels so uncomfortable and yet I can't do anything to help.

Fever

9 months 7 days

It's Friday. It's Hari Raya, a public holiday for our Malay friends to celebrate their new year. Selamat Hari Raya! It's a long weekend.

And baby woke up with a fever. Sigh. I'm not too sure when she had fever. When she woke up this morning, she was grumpy and when I touched her. Woah.. Burning. I quickly grabbed the ear thermometer. Omg. 39.6 degrees. Scared me!

I quickly prepared her bath in room temperature water and bathe her. Hoping to bring down her temperature. Then pasted a cooling pad on her forehead.

Then we fed her paracetamol. Temperature fluctuating between 38 and 40. Worried.

At a point, she vomited out all the milk. Sigh. My poor baby. I kept sponging her. But it kinda disrupted her sleep. She's coughing a little too.

Worried. Then her fever hit 40.4 and she started to look restless and lethargic. Hubby got worried and we took her to the hospital. She was 39.8 degrees when registered.

Then the doctor went through the examination, then got the nurse to feed her paracetamol and we were to sponge her and wait for an hour for the medicine to set in. Hmm exactly what we did at home.

After an hour, we took her temperature with our own thermometer. 38.4 degrees. Then we got called in and the doctor measured with her faulty thermometer (37.1) and went along with the figure we gave her. And we were educated.

When a baby has fever, there are peaks and dips. As long as the baby is still eating/drinking at least half of the usual and is still active at the temperature dip and pees as usual. It is still fine. Even if the thermometer says 40 degrees.

Ok. I'm shocked. Oh well. I just got branded as a kiasi kiasu mommy. Nvm. We were both worried. And now we know.

Paid over $100 for things that we can do at home and a lesson learnt.

Breastfeeding : Decline of BM

Ever since the painful blocked ducts from Friday, I got chills and fever on Saturday. The chills had me shivering with chattering teeth. Fever had even reached 38.8 degrees. Aching and soreness continued. They are all symptoms of matitis. Luckily after two panadols, my fever declined. And so did my supply.

Worse. LO did not seem satisfied with the feed from the affected side. And the other side's supply is slowly declining too.

Worried, I went to the GP on Sunday to get antibiotics in fear of further inflammation and decline of supply. The fever was still there. The GP seems reluctant to give me the antibiotics. But I know I need it.

Today the supply was still bad in the morning but better in the evening. LO used to feed on only one side to be full for each feed before I fell sick. Now she needs to nurse on both to feel satisfied. I feel bad as she seems so frustrated to nurse. But I need her help to help me get over this.

I just hope this episode ends quickly. I want to provide more for my LO. Now is just more massages and more nursing. Thank you my dear little angel, for being patient (though not all of the times haha). Mummy loves you.

Breastfeeding : Blocked ducts

I have been breastfeeding my LO since day 1. The only times I did not give her BM was when she was in the hospital for 48hrs of phototherapy as Hubby wanted me to rest and not go to and fro the hospital. And that two incidents when the polyclinic PD asked me to give her FM two days before appointment, since her jaundice level did not go down as fast due to BM jaundice. But I stopped a day on the second incident after the results did not improve as much as expected in the first.

Breastfeeding has been quite smooth after we have gotten past the cracked nipples, soreness and shooting pain at the initial few weeks. Engorgement happened during the first week and it was very painful. With paid help from a LC at KKH, it was better and for the next 2 months plus, everything was quite smooth. Latching and pumping well. Supply was enough for LO too.

Today I woke up with blocked ducts. PAINFUL. And the more I massaged it away, the more sore it got. End up, the entire side was sore and aching. It felt bruised. It felt tortured. I know that with continued nursing, the ducts will clear, but it did not help that LO has a smaller appetite now. So I can only pump and massage. But continuous pumping means increasing supply. I shall try harder.

Ouch. x___X

Worry 2: Cleared

Finally. After two long months of visiting the hospital (inital 1 week) and polyclinic, little Josie's jaundice is finally below 100. And we do not need to go back again to check. Hip hip hurray!! No more poking to draw blood. Her small little feet has so many holes now. Heartpain.

I'm glad. I'm happy. Really very happy.

Xoxo

Worry 1: Cleared.

At birth, LO was given an appointment to return to the hospital for an ultrascan and doctor's review as there was some concern regarding the size of her kidneys.

And she is cleared for the concern today. Yippie. Love you lots my precious.
